Activism That Lasts a Lifetime

Many people tend to associate activism and social justice movements with youth. Jean Pauline, however, is a testament to the fact that activism is a lifelong commitment one can make. Her story is highlighted in Vita Activa, a short documentary detailing her continued activist involvement – at the age of 92. She is a vital contributor to her communities, including the Bound Together anarchist bookstore of San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district and the Bay Area Women in Black chapter of Oakland.

This documentary was student produced by four Chapman University students; two from their Orange campus and two from their sister campus in Singapore. It was recently selected for the European Union Film Festival in Singapore.
